Random matrix model of QCD at finite density and the nature of the quenched limit.

چکیده
We use a random matrix model to study chiral symmetry breaking in QCD at finite chemical potential μ. We solve the model and compute the eigenvalue density of the Dirac matrix on a complex plane. A naive “replica trick” fails for μ 6= 0: we find that quenched QCD is not a simple n → 0 limit of QCD with n quarks. It is the limit of a theory with 2n quarks: n quarks with original action and n quarks with conjugate action. The results agree with earlier studies of lattice QCD at μ 6= 0 and provide a simple analytical explanation of a long-standing puzzle. Electronic mail address: [email protected]. 1

Lessons from Random Matrix Theory for Qcd at Finite Density
In this lecture we discuss various aspects of QCD at nonzero chemical potential, including its phase diagram and the Dirac spectrum, and summarize what chiral random matrix theory has contributed to this subject. To illustrate the importance of the phase of the fermion determinant, we particularly highlight the differences between QCD and phase quenched QCD.

We review the application of random matrix theory (RMT) to chiral symmetry in QCD. Starting from the general philosophy of RMT we introduce a chiral random matrix model with the global symmetries of QCD. Exact results are obtained for universal properties of the Dirac spectrum: i) finite volume corrections to valence quark mass dependence of the chiral condensate, and ii) microscopic fluctuatio...
متن کاملThermodynamics using Wilson and Staggered Quarks
Lattice investigations of QCD at finite temperature have contributed considerably to the current understanding of the transition from the hadronic state of matter to the quark gluon plasma and of the physics of the plasma phase. Mainly due to the ever-present limitations of computational power many analyses have been carried out in the pure gauge sector of QCD such that bulk properties of gluon...
متن کاملThe Infrared Limit of the Qcd Dirac Spectrum and Applications of Chiral Random Matrix Theory to Qcd
In the first part of these lectures we discuss the infrared limit of the spectrum of the QCD Dirac operator. We discuss the global symmetries of the QCD partition function and show that the Dirac spectrum near zero virtuality is determined by the pattern of spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking of a QCD-like partition function with additional bosonic valence quarks and their super-symmetric part...
متن کاملComparative Study of Random Matrices Capability in Uncertainty Detection of Pier’s Dynamics
Because of random nature of many dependent variables in coastal engineering, treatment of effective parameters is generally associated with uncertainty. Numerical models are often used for dynamic analysis of complex structures, including mechanical systems. Furthermore, deterministic models are not sufficient for exact anticipation of structure’s dynamic response, but probabilistic models...
